One Of My Fly Fishing Chest PacksI am constantly looking for ways to minimize what I carry on the water. By nature, I lack the organizational skills that I envy in my friends who have garages tidier than my kitchen. So, I'm always trying to follow their lead to insure that by the end of a long day of wading I'm not exhausted from carrying fifty pounds of gear with me while I'm fly fishing. I swapped out my fly fishing vest for a functional and ergonomic chest pack awhile back and I couldn't be happier.

Sunset near Bridgeport, CAI'm a thinker.  That's why I decided to make the long drive to the East Walker River the weekend after Memorial Day Weekend.  I calculated the crowds would be gone and the trout would be jumping.  Note to self:  check the weather report before all fly fishing adventures.

Local Rainbow Trout on a Dry FlyAbout a week back a friend of mine who had promised to take me fly fishing and show me some of our local waters finally had a day off.  Note to self - send thank you card to Ray's wife.  Anyway, I did the long haul to meet him at the base of the mountains by 8 am and he drove the rest of the way.

Brown Trout From The Lower OwensSo, as opening day for the 2009 fishing season approaches this weekend I thought I'd post some of the pictures of the first annual DS Fly Fishing excursion to the Owens River from a couple of weeks back.  Mike and I were up in Bishop with some of his extended family and the weather ended up being pretty spectacular.  We braved some heavy winds and thick crowds, but in the end, Mike and I were both into some awesome trout.
