My friend Dean in Oahu (See my older post here) sent me this video of a bonefish he was playing. He was trying out his new Summer Spey fly reel from The Spey Reel Company. Notice the sweet song that click and pawl reel makes with a bonefish on. The camera he was using was a Go Pro. The wide angle is cool, they are waterproof and they have a chest harness that he was using too - Nice! Enjoy. Thanks Dean

On Friday I wanted to check out some water in the Santa Monica Mountains that was rumored to have some trout. Spring is here and I'm in fly fishing mode. I had a little time so, with my fly rod in hand, I tried a couple access points. I grew up in the area so I knew exactly where I was going. Well, a lot has changed since I was a kid. I was stymied in both locations that I had planned on. |

Well, they may not be trophy trout, but literally minutes from the urban sprawl that is Los Angeles there is some amazing scenery and some beautiful fish. It was November the last time I got to do any fly fishing and my soul was aching. The fly fishing casting clinic I attended over the last several weekends just helped add to the longing. I talked to some folks with the same fly fishing addiction as me and decided I needed to grab my gear and hit some local water. |

So, when I was at the Fly show a couple of weeks back, I got to meet Steve Ebersold who is the Education Chairman for Sierra Pacific Flyfishers. He told me about their annual casting school that they have every year and invited me to check it out. Well, the weather was spectacular, so I decided to head into the San Fernando Valley and see their clinic first hand. The coffee was flowing, the Donuts were plentiful and there was a nice turnout. |

Well, last weekend the annual Fly Fishing Show rolled into town. I was pretty excited. Even though I hate crowds, I had been looking forward to it for weeks. Since I had never been, I really wasn't sure what to expect. To be honest, I was worried that current economic times was going to keep people away. As usual, I was worried over nothing. |
