TOPIC: Hooks at the fly desk

Anybody have any innovative suggestions for storing hooks at the fly desk? In the past I've kept mine in a combination of the original hook boxes, and small compartment fly boxes, but as my inventory grows, I find myself sifting through handfulls of small boxes, sometimes taking a little longer than I'd like to find the hook I'm looking for.

I've recently migrated many of my hooks in to one medium sized compartment box, it's transparent green with about 15 or so compartments, but still isn't quite right. At about one inch, it's deeper than necessary, which means I still have to reach for the forecepts to take a hook out, plus, 15 compartments still isn't quite enough - I still keep some of my hooks in the package they come in. I suppose I could buy another green case, but was looking for a better option before I spend any more money on something that's less than ideal.

Awesome that you posted this question because I was just scratching my head about this too. I've been using a system that I've outgrown myself and I've been saying I need to come up with a better hook organizing system. I just did a little online searching and so far it looks like the best and easiest solution is a 21 compartment hook box from Umpqua - Cabelas has them. The bottoms are rounded making it easy to get hooks out and there is place to label as well for quick identification. Next stop is the craft store if that doesn't fit your needs.

C&F make a hook box that i love! it is nice and shallow, plus it is magnetic. the hooks stay nicely in their own little area, even if i knock it over! they are a little spendy at around $20, but has cleared up alot of room for me.

Jebbs, I gotta say I think C&F fly boxes are pretty great. I didn't know they made these - I can see how the magnetic bottom would be a brilliant improvement to what I am currently using.

Thanks for the heads up!
